Frequently Asked Questions
What is OCAF?
OCAF stands for the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation. OCAF started with a group of five individuals in 1994 to start up an art organization in Oconee County to highlight the arts here. This group of five became the Steering Committee: Bob Marable, Peggy Holcomb, Lawrence Stueck, Jerry Chappelle & Len Woodell (deceased). OCAF received it’s 501(c)(3) status in 1995 making it a not for profit arts charity. OCAF uses its resources derived from it’s various events to promote the arts and artists in Oconee County and the Northeast Georgia region.

How does OCAF benefit the local community and NE Georgia region?

OCAF brings over 20,000 visitors to the Oconee County/Watkinsville area through our various events held annually. These visitors bring much needed tourism dollars to the local community. Figures provided by our local Economic Development Office indicate that these 20,000 visitors bring $764,000 in indirect revenue to the county, with over $53,000 of that in taxes.

Beyond the economic impact of our events, OCAF brings artistic cultural events and education to the people of the NE Georgia Region. By continually adding and attracting the highest caliber of art to the region, OCAF elevates the cultural awareness for generations to come.

Where does OCAF get their funding?

OCAF is a completely independent of governmental funding. We receive all of our funding from membership dues, fundraisers, donations and grants.

What are your hours of operation?

Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 4 pm unless otherwise stated. OCAF maintains summer hours in July and August of each year.

How can I become a member of OCAF?

There are several ways to become a member and many different membership levels. Please go online to our Membership page or contact the OCAF staff for more specific information.

As an OCAF member, will I receive a list of other members and their contact information?

We feel a responsibility to provide a list of our members to anyone who asks in order to be as transparent as possible; however, we will not share the personnel contact information of our members. We do not sell our mailing list.

I am a visual artist and would like my work to be considered for an exhibit in your gallery. What is the process of submission?

OCAF has many opportunities for exhibiting. Please contact the OCAF staff to obtain exhibition information.
