Art Classes

 

Color for Dummies, Oil & Acrylic - NEW DATE-
Instructor: Perry McCrackin

Mondays, 1-3 PM
$100 - Members, $115 - Non-members

 

Master basic color theory, using a fun, hands on approach to understanding the color wheel. You will explore color mixing, hue, value, intensity,     composition and the effects of color using acrylic and oil - or media of your choice.  (Pastel and watercolorist are also welcome, but must be well-versed in using their selected medium.) This workshop is for the absolute beginner, or anyone who has dabbled in painting but never had a foundation in color theory.

Oil Painting 

Instructor: Leah Mantini

Tuesdays: Aug 10- Sept 14, 5:30-7:30

 

Cost is $125 members, $135 nonmembers 

 

During the six weeks together, we will develop a strong grasp of basic terminology, techniques and materials. Oil painting fundamentals will first be taught using a limited palette.  We will then do exercises to work on the quality and the thickness of our paint and explore the challenges of transcribing the color and form we see onto the canvas. Beginning and Intermediate painters welcome

Watercolor

 

Fall 2010 Beginning Watercolor Classes

Instructor: Kie Johnson

Wednesdays, September 8 - October 20, 1:00 -3:00

Class Fee: $125 OCAF members, $135 for non-members for the 6 week session

 

Beginning to Intermediate Students will become introduced to watercolor materials including brushes, paints and papers.  Basic painting techniques will be taught for control of paints and variety of watercolor processes.  Students will be introduced to color theory, color mixing, value studies, glazing and negative painting to provide them with the beginning essentials for success.

Watercolor Workshop

 

Fall 2010 Open Studio Watercolor Classes Instructor: Kie Johnson

Wednesday, November 3, 10 & 17, 1:00-3:00

Open Studio Fee: $25 for OCAF Members & $30 for non-members for each session (3 Sessions)

 

Students will have the opportunity to bring their own work and instruction will be provided on an individual basis.  These classes allow students of different experience levels to come together to share and learn.

Students should have some previous experience with watercolor but open to all levels

Painting Workshop

Build Stretchers for Canvas

Instructor: Bartholomew Lynch

Price is $35

At this two hour workshop you will learn to construct custom strainer supports for stretching canvas. Materials and tools for small to medium sized strainers will be provided with the materials fee of $25. Use as a standalone instruction or in conjunction with the Stretching and Priming workshop the following weekend.

Stretching and Priming Canvas on Strainers

Price is $45

 

At this three hour workshop you will learn to stretch canvas over stretchers or strainers, and then prime the surface in preparation for painting. Materials and tools for small to medium sized surfaces will be provided with the materials fee of $25. Strainers or stretchers will not be provided, but can be constructed at the Strainers workshop the preceding weekend.
