Hitselberger
September
18-19th, 10am - 4pm
Fees:
$125 Members - $135 Non-Members
Paper
is something we encounter every day, but rarely stop to consider. During this
two-day workshop, we will learn the basic fundamentals of paper, as well as the
ancient process of papermaking. We will experiment with organic additives to
our paper, and learn how to create our own watermarked sheets. Every student
will leave the weekend workshop with a short stack of their own handmade paper,
as well as the skills and knowledge to continue making paper on their own.
All
basic materials will be provided, although students will be asked to bring
several inexpensive items to incorporate into the process. Let's get our hands
wet and have some fun!
All
ages are welcome, but kids under 14 require parent supervision.

Papermaking Workshop
- Working with Color
Instructor: Brian
Hitselberger
October
9-10th, 10am-4pm
Fees:
$145 for members and $155 for non-members.
Building
upon skills learned in Papermaking
Workshop for the Enthusiastic Beginner, we will work together in the Working with Color workshop to explore
the possibilities of further individualizing our handmade papers through the
incorporation of colored pigments, dyes and pulp.
Utilizing
pigments and pulp painting, students will incorporate drawing and color into
their projects, to create both an individually treated set of handmade sheets,
as well as unique "pulp-painted" works. We will be working with dyes and
pigments: I strongly recommend a set of sturdy latex gloves! In addition to
these hands-on activities, I will demonstrate the process of paper dyeing,
which yields beautiful results and can be done at home and with little to no
fancy equipment.
Basic
supplies will be provided, although students may be asked to bring some
inexpensive materials to have on hand.
All
ages welcome, but kids under 14 require parent supervision.
